The Bible is divided into two main divisions—the Old Testament and the New Testament. It has sixty-six books which contain 1189 chapters. The Bible is God’s Word to us, explaining how the world got here, how we got here and what went wrong in the world—the fall of mankind. It tells how God dealt with the Jews, his chosen people whose line Jesus, God’s Son, would be born through to redeem us sinful people back into a relationship with Himself. It also tells of God’s love for and dealings with the Gentiles, non-Jewish people. In the Old Testament it prophesied of Jesus, the Messiah’s coming and in the New Testament tells the life of Jesus Christ. It tells of God’s dealings and instructions to the church and tells us of future events in eternity. It tells us how we can have eternal life.
