Our senses can trick us. Our mind tries to make sense out of what our eyes and ears tell it but often we are influenced by past experience. We must study the picture to see it from all angles.
Optical illusions are images that are perceived in a different way from what they really are. This is because our eyes and brain makes unconscious inferences or because of a lot of stimulation to the eyes and brain. We cannot totally rely on our senses. They can be deceived.
Is our mind made up or are we seeking to see the truth? Is there a God? Can we know?
God tells us in the Bible that He gave us the Bible to tell us how the earth and people got here (Genesis 1 and 2). He tells us the problem of sin and how it started (Genesis 3). God tells us the consequences of this sin problem—now we live in a cursed world. We are separated from God and we face death. God tells us that He still loves us. In His Word He tells us how He made a way for us to get back into a relationship with Him. This is through God the Father sending His only Son Jesus to earth. Jesus, who is God in human form, was born of the virgin Mary. He lived about 30 years and then started His earthly ministry. We can read this in the Gospels. At the end of these 4 books in the Bible we see that Jesus the innocent one was crucified. He died. Three days later He arose from the dead. That is how God made a way to fix our sin problem. But God does not force things on us. He lets us choose to believe Him or not. John 3:16-18 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”
